About

We are a friendly club based at Tring Sports Centre. We have over 100 members aged between 8 and 60. We are primarily a junior club, with children joining once they have completed the Sportspace learn to swim (or equivalent) programme, but we also have an active masters section of about 20 swimmers, and are delighted to welcome new members of all ages. We are affiliated to Herts ASA and the ASA Eastern Region.

What are the club’s objectives?

The club can be viewed as a Development Club – looking to develop each swimmer to the best of their individual ability and desire. For some swimmers that could be performing at National level; for others it may be representing the club in the Chiltern league; others may choose to attend one or two training sessions each week for pleasure and to improve general fitness.

Coaching

As a small club TSC is lucky to have such a qualified and enthusiastic coaching team.

The coaching program is based on the LTAD (Long Term Athlete Development) framework, which is set by the ASA, and is about making sure that every swimmer reaches their full potential – whether it is recreational swimming or at a National level. All squads follow an IM (Individual Medley) based training plan in order to create a well-rounded swimmer that can excel in different events.

Swim21 Accreditation

The club is Swim 21 accredited. Swim21 accreditation means clubs are dedicated to creating the best possible swimming experience for all. It is your guarantee of quality provision for your child. Every swim21 accredited club provides high quality, safe, effective, child-friendly services for the benefit of their swimmers and non-swimming members. It’s about putting the swimmers first and ensuring young learners follow the pathway the ASA recognises for training and competition.

Child Safeguarding

Tring Swimming Club has adopted Wavepower 2016/19, the ASA Child Safeguarding policy and procedures.
The theme of Wavepower 2016/19 is to safeguard children and young people in line with current legislation and guidance. More information can be found on the ASA website. ASA Safeguarding Children.

Committee Structure

The committee is made up of volunteers who give a huge amount of their time to run the club for the members.  As the club continues to grow it is not possible for everything to be done by the committee. The committee will therefore be adopting a project based approach where individuals/small teams can organise a particular event or activity with support and guidance from the committee as appropriate. If you think you can offer any help, however small, please get in touch. Without additional support it is just not possible for us to do all the things the club would like to do.
